Newsletter: 11th September 2015

Hello, everyone

The ‘Funstars Room’– Competition Winner

Marley Bennett  will be presented with her prize on Tuesday next week and I am sure she will enjoy going to the Cinema with her mum and friends.

Thanks to everyone who took part.

Parent Information evening with Carrie Lindsay

A small group of parents attended the meeting on 7th September to raise their concerns over the Fife Tendering process for Funded Places. The meeting went as well as expected, however the Education Department have said there can be no appeal but that we can tender again next session.

Theme for the Month

Displays are taking shape now to reflect the change of season Autumn and Harvest with wind blowing and leaves falling. Please have a look inside rooms on pick up or drop off and let the staff know what you think?

The good weather this past week saw the whole Nursery head to the big park on Monday and they all ‘had a ball’ playing games and sharing the snack with their friends.

The rearranged trip to the Library took place on Tuesday with the Dazzler children all being excited about the walk into town and going all the way down Guildhall Street to the small Library.

Dazzlers and Explorers have gone for walks along the cycle path collecting even more ‘autumn material’. While the environmental ‘re-cycling trips’ for LLs took place twice this week.

A group of LLs children accompanied Courtney and Mike to Cowdenbeath Library for ‘storytime’ on Thursday on the very long and exciting bus journey. The children were very well behaved and were excellent ambassadors for the nursery and their parents.

Learning Journals – electronic

Two sets of parents are piloting this exciting new initiative here at Appin as are three members of staff. The initial feedback is that the electronic tracking and reporting system is very good indeed.

Once I have collated al information I will start a roll out programme to all staff and parents. Please be assured from the parent/child end this is a simple system to use.

The current PLPs/PLJs are out in each area for you to look at and, the staff are working very hard to get all the observations that took place last month placed in their key child’s folder in order for you to look at and comment upon. Please do take these away but you really must return these.

On that note:

Children’s Care Plans

I am still waiting on about a quarter of the care Plans to be returned. There is a big focus on this sharing of information between staff and parents from the inspectors and we must have up to date information in the folders.

Can I please ask those of you who have not done so already to complete the attached form and return either as a hard copy or electronic.

Thank you in advance.

The activities going on this week past ranged from splashy and dirty play with mud to vegetable painting to reading and writing activities.

Have a great weekend – keep the 26th free please.
